How much is your life worth to you? Bids end in fifteen minutes, may the best man win, but then the other one isn’t going to be around to complain about it.

Two ultra-competitive salesmen, the young, fast-talking Tom (GREG KELLY) and the older, by-the-books Raymond (STEVE MCTIGUE) are up for the same promotion. When ruthless contract killer Pierson (DAVID ROBERTSON) comes on the scene it looks like Tom and Raymond have unwittingly hired the same hitman to take each other out. What is Pierson’s solution? He makes them ‘sales pitch’ against each other for their lives.

ANTE is an ambitious short thriller, currently on the festival circuit by up and coming director Chris Cronin, founder of Genesis Flux films. From a background in short films and live sports coverage, Cronin has financed, produced, directed and is editing the film himself. “After reading the script I knew this was something I just had to make,” Cronin explains.

With a cast of professional actors, David Edward-Robertson(Shameless, The Street), Greg Kelly (Hollyoaks, Waterloo Road), Steve McTigue(Cold Feet, Doctors), and a crew of industry professionals, all going the extra mile, the film has become something of a labour of love for everyone involved.

The majority of the production was filmed on site at the Durker Roods Hotel in West Yorkshire, whose staff cooperated with the long night time shoots. The film showcases the exciting Canon 7D, combining the contemporary technologically and atmospheric lighting and strategic use of stylish techniques like undercranking and overcranking, the film will be something of a visual feast.

The teaser was almost immediately selected to be part of the Los Angeles Trailer Festival and was viewed by representatives of Paramount, Universal Studios, 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, HBO, New Line and over a hundred other leading industry companies. “One actor has already got a role on TV as a result, and I’m hearing that the others are under consideration for parts,” Cronin explains.

Honestly there was no dead weight on this production and even though pressure was high, dare I say it, I had a little fun making it despite being in one room from 8 p.m til 6 a.m for four nights. These people made it worth it so thanks for that guys.

Joel Catchatoor is an emerging film composer based in Manchester, England. From a broad background ranging classical and popular styles of music, he cut his teeth in film composition on the turn of his 18th birthday, with the film (Bullet Wound: Divided Productions, 2009) earning immediate film festival exposure and critical acclaim.

“Chris approached me to write the soundtrack for ANTE during the opening stages of production, off the back of my involvement on Last Days Of Innocence (2009). It was an immense privilege to write for ANTE, and it’s setting in a single location with the heat slowly being turned up posed its own unique and refreshing challenges for the writing of the soundtrack. A three note theme returns throughout the music and in this way I aimed to achieve maximum tension without overblowing the subtle and refined narrative. The music itself combines orchestral and electronic elements, coming together to ratchet up the suspense and compliment what is a fantastic film and support the outstanding performances of the cast.”

Intermission are a three piece from Derry, Northern Ireland. They have been together for just about a year now. Consisting of two former members of Kharma 45 (Glenn, guitar and vocals, and Phil, drums) and also Bradley (formerly of local Derry bands “empire” and “northern lights”, bass). I’ve been fortunate to have worked with the band as I think their sound is amazing and i’m lucky to have been given one of their songs for the films big finale!
